Signs you have bed bugs
- Itchy red bites in a line or cluster when you wake up
- Small blood spots on bed sheets and pillow covers
- Dark specks along mattress seams and bed joints
- A sweet, musty smell in heavily infested rooms
Pune has a large population of students and working professionals living in PGs, hostels and shared flats, and bed bugs travel easily in luggage and second-hand furniture. Treating one bed in a shared flat usually is not enough.
How we treat bed bugs
Inspection
We check mattresses, bed frames, sofas, curtains, switchboards and wall cracks room by room.
Preparation
We give you a short checklist: wash bedding in hot water, clear under the bed and keep clothes in sealed bags.
First treatment
Beds, furniture joints, cracks and skirting are treated with a low-toxicity, registered product.
Second treatment
A repeat visit after 10–15 days targets nymphs that hatch from eggs the first treatment could not reach.
Is it safe for my family?
Our safety approach. We treat furniture and cracks, not bedding you sleep on. Rooms can be used again once the treated surfaces are dry, usually after three to four hours.
Every product we use is registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC), and our technicians are trained by NIPHM. Read more about our human-safe pest control and organic pest control methods.
How to prevent bed bugs coming back
- Check hotel beds and luggage racks when you travel
- Inspect second-hand furniture and mattresses before bringing them home
- Use zipped mattress covers
- Reduce clutter under beds where bed bugs can hide
Bed bug treatment: frequently asked questions
Why do bed bugs need two treatments?
Bed bug eggs are protected by a hard shell, so the first treatment kills adults and nymphs but not all eggs. The second visit, 10–15 days later, catches the young bugs that hatch before they can lay eggs of their own.
Do I need to throw away my mattress?
Usually not. Mattresses can be treated and covered. We will tell you honestly if a piece of furniture is too damaged or infested to save.
Do you treat PGs and hostels?
Yes. For PGs and hostels we treat all rooms in the same visit so bed bugs do not simply move to the next room.
